Goodbye Andrew
I know many of you are pet lovers and know how they can become loving members of your family.
Well today we lost our Andrew and we will truly miss him very much. Andrew was our black and white Cocker Spaniel.
Andrew was a stray that wondered up to Gary and Joan Higgins’ home over 14 years ago. They had an older dog at the time and felt it was best for their older dog and Andrew to find Andrew a new home. It was kind of a funny twist of fate, just 3 weeks prior to this we had just lost our 13 year old blond Cocker Spaniel and his name was also Andrew. Almost seemed like an omen. Gary and Joan were kind enough to let us take the new Andrew into our home.
When we brought him home the first thing we did was take him to the Vet for a check up. At that time the Vet told us Andrew was approximately 2 years old, so that made him 16+ years old when he passed away.
Andrew moved right in and quickly became a member of our family. Andrew loved his treats, sitting on the porch swing, taking his naps and in his younger days playing fetch with his toys. He had a very small world, but seemed to enjoy himself very much. He seldom left the yard and was very content to stay around home. The longest journey he ever made was to go next door to visit his friends Bill & Joyce Pace, they were always very good to him and his brother Zeus and always had treats for them.
We are very thankful that we still have Zeus, our white and tan Cocker. He also was a rescue dog that we adopted 8 years ago. He is now 12 years old. Don't think he realizes Andrew will not come home again and I am sure he will miss his buddy.
